Does anyone know why my shih tzu / yorkie mix dog wont bark?

In the 2 1/2 years ive had him I've only heard him bark twice and i cant remember what for . He doesnt bark at anything or any one he just very playfull but im just wonder why he doesnt bark is something wrong?
